From the practitioner's perspective - field trips come alive

Teams who missed the first workshops in November had another shot at a seminar conducted at the premises of Raffles Institution Junior College. Teams from the Singapore Sports School, Raffles Institution JC and Raffles Girls Secondary braved the morning lecture session followed by an organised excursion in the afternoon. The big yellow coach that we hired had many vacant seats left. What a pity that many participants just couldn't join us that morning.

Those who missed the field trip missed a good thing! We visited the Land Transport Authority with its interactive gallery, the Marina Barrage and the Urban Redevelopment Authority.

Crowning off the day was the visit to JEM project office of Lend Lease. Sustainability Manager, Paul gave an inspiring and soul searching talk about what sustainability meant and how it is put into practice in their buildings , namely at 313@Somerset, recipient of BCA's Green Mark platinum award. The new upcoming JEM touted as Asia's biggest ever mixed-used retail mall in Jurong, aims at being sustainable and energy efficient.

We look forward to another discussion with Paul at 313@Somerset. Keep your eyes peel for another special workshop!

Field Trip For ASSEMBLY's Participants

Based on positive feedback from our participants, ASSEMBLY is organising a field trip for our students to enhance their understanding of a Clean & Green Township. The field trip will be conducted by Activistar's Town Planner to piece together parts of town planning that makes Singapore as a model city. Students can apply their understanding to putting a complex puzzle together for Hanoi.

Come join this fun-learning outing which includes a lunch picnic where students get to meet their fellow counterparts to share ideas and make new friends!
